2nd Annual Mental Health Walk May 7, 2022

City of Baldwin Park 2nd Annual Mental Health Walk

The City of Baldwin Park will be hosting the 2nd Annual Mental Health Walk will be taking place on May 7, 2022.  Looms for Lupus is proud to be one of the co-hosts of the walk along with Baldwin Park Unified School District,  Oath to Country Foundation, Hope Foundation of CA, and  True Pride CC.

The Walk will start at 10:30am PST at City Hall and end at Morgan Park where there will be vendors, car show and so many fun filled activities for all the family.

Looms for Lupus will be launching the Knitting a Community of Hope- Tejiendo una Comunidad de Esperanza Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration from September 15th through October 15, 2021.

On Wednesday Sept 15th, 2021, Looms for Lupus will be launching a the “Tejiendo una Comunidad de Esperanza” Series dedicated to celebrating the culture, achievements and contributions of Hispanics and Latinos in the United States. We will also focus on raising awareness about the health disparities impacting the Hispanic/Latino community, promoting wellness to help improve overall health. We will amplify resources on healthcare literacy, the importance of Hispanic participation in clinical trials, prevention of chronic care conditions, managing chronic care conditions, and taking action in overall physical and mental health.

National Minority Mental Health Series with Looms for Lupus and Wanda Green creator of Laughter and Inspiration with Lupus Facebook Group


This series is created for YOU! We want to raise awareness of minority mental health by starting the healing process to engage and learn about the signs and symptoms of how mental health affects the minority communities. The weekly Facebook Live sessions will have a companion worksheet available for you to download, reflect and interact in your personal space on the topics, questions, art related activities as it pertains to the live discussion. Please save your worksheets, On the last week of July we will share our journey in our private forum which will take place via zoom to discover what we have learned during our five-week series.

1st Annual Wellness Day- Dia de Bienestar * May 15, 2021

Lupus, Fibromyalgia and Mental Health-2021

  

On behalf of Looms for Lupus (L4L), we are pleased to announce our 1st Annual Wellness Day. In celebration of May Awareness for Lupus, Fibromyalgia and Mental Health we are organizing a full day event committed to health and wellness for patients, caregivers, and loved ones virtually due to Covid-19. This is an opportunity to share educational health information, provide demonstrations of healthy practices, create a supportive community, and build awareness about available wellness program resources. 


The event will be held virtually on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 9:00am to 3:00pm. We will have Empowerment and Education breakout sessions that will teach skills needed to actively participate in healthy coping strategies. These sessions will be engaging and interactive.  Example focus areas: Art Therapy, Meditation & Mindfulness, Mental Health, Nutrition & Lifestyle, Yoga, Beauty Tips, and Caregiver support. Language interpretation in Spanish will be provided as well as Spanish breakout sessions. 


Working at the community level to promote healthy living brings the greatest health benefits to the greatest number of people. It also reduces health disparities caused by differences in income, education, race and ethnicity, location and other factors that can affect health. #L4LWellness2021

Lupus, Fibromialgia y Salud Mental-2021

Looms for Lupus (L4L) se complace en anunciar nuestro primer Día Anual de Bienestar. Para celebrar la Concientización de Mayo sobre el Lupus, la Fibromialgia y la Salud Mental, estamos organizando un evento de día completo para la salud y el bienestar de los pacientes, cuidadores y seres queridos virtualmente debido a Covid-19. Esta es una oportunidad para compartir información educativa sobre salud, proporcionar demostraciones de prácticas saludables, crear una comunidad de apoyo y crear conciencia sobre los recursos disponibles para el bienestar.  


El evento se llevará a cabo virtualmente el sábado 15 de mayo de 2021 de 9:00 am a 3:00 pm. Tendremos sesiones sobre empoderamiento y educación que enseñarán las habilidades necesarias para participar activamente en estrategias de afrontamiento saludables. Estas sesiones serán interactivas e interactivas. Ejemplos de áreas de enfoque: terapia de arte, meditación y atención plena, salud mental, nutrición y estilo de vida, yoga, consejos de belleza y apoyo para cuidadores. Se proporcionará interpretación al idioma español, así como sesiones  en grupo en español. 


 Trabajar a nivel comunitario para promover una vida saludable brinda muchos beneficios para la salud a la mayoria de personas. También reduce las disparidades de salud causadas por diferencias de ingresos, educación, raza y etnia, ubicación y otros factores que pueden afectar la salud. #L4LWellness2021
